A visit to the Bannerghatta National Park

After a comfortable journey, we landed on time in Bangalore. I had already made a hotel reservation via the Internet. After browsing through many websites, I was impressed with the services and facilities at Chalet Citadel, Bangalore. I had booked a Suite and requested them for a pickup at the airport. The vehicle was already waiting for my arrival. I along with my family boarded the car and left for the hotel. As the hotel was amidst the city, it took an hour and half to get there.

We went into our room, freshened up and were ready to go around sightseeing. My family had already planned the initial trip to Bannerghatta National Park. The specialty of the Park was that it was in close vicinity to the city at a distance of about 22km. from the city. It was around 34km from the hotel. The hotel had arranged vehicle for our local trips and it arrived on time to pick us up. We began our journey and Bangalore traffic on a Monday morning is a bad experience. I imagined about the patience and the concentration that the drivers had. It took us one and half hours to get to the place.

Wow! I was surprised to see natural surroundings perfect for wildlife…That too amidst the city! A vast area abundant in flora and fauna, superb safaris, Butterfly Park, museum, boating and so on…a complete picnic package for all the visitors irrespective of any age group. Anyone visiting the place is sure to have fun all the way. As we walked into the park, we could a number of animals, which included antelopes, deer, zebra, lion and many species of birds. We took out our camcorder and began to shoot some exciting scenes of the animals. We also clicked quite a few family pictures.

We walked on to see the unique Butterfly Park. It was a colorful place where all efforts are taken by the authorities to protect and conserve diverse species of butterflies. We also glanced through the notes that were displayed regarding the butterfly family, species and so on. An interesting Museum is also situated within that displays several animal skeletons, fossils and more. It was surely a worthwhile trip where we can interact closely with nature!
